Adrian Tamburini
Bass-Baritone

A chorister with the Victorian Boys Choir from the age of 5, Adrian has always had a passion for music and singing.

At the age of 10 he was awarded a scholarship to sing with the St Patrick's Cathedral Choir, Melbourne where he stayed until 1992 as the assistant choir captain.

Deciding to concentrate on solo classical singing, Adrian commenced vocal lessons with Bettine McCaughan. Between 1993 and 1997, under the tutelage of Ms. McCaughan, he acheived great success winning awards in vocal eisteddfods (including the Royal South Street Competition and the City of Geelong Eisteddfod) and competitions (1996 - Finalist in the Victorian Liederfest, 1997 Winner of the Ernest Schilberger Award for Singing and Winner of the Inaugural Diamond Valley Aria Award)

After taking some personal time away from vocal studies Adrian commenced vocal tuition with Lucas DeJong - a past student of Bettine McCaughan. During this time Adrian was awarded the Robert Salzer Vocal Scholarship in 2002, as well as being a finalist in the Melbourne Male Voice Choir Singer of the Year and the winner of the Lygon Street Festa Aria Competition in 2003. Most recently Adrian was in the finals of the Australian Puccini Foundation Award 2006.

His singing has featured on international recordings, motion picture soundtracks, TV commercials and Australian dramas including the soundtrack to "After the Deluge".

His Operatic debut was in 1997 and ever since has had a varied career as an operatic soloist (OzOpera, Melbourne Opera), an operatic chorister (Opera Australia, Victorian Opera) and musical director for local theatre groups (Dandenong Theatre Company, Whitefriars Theatre Company). His work, both on and off the stage, has been nominated for awards and his performances have received critical acclaim (Green Room Award nomination 2005, Lyrebird Awards 2005).

2007 sees Adrian continue his work with OzOpera in the Victorian Schools Company production of Rossini's The Barber of Seville as well as continuing his association with Melbourne Opera and Victorian Opera.
